Encrypting an email

When sending an email that contains PHI (Protected Health Information), the email needs to be encrypted to ensure the patient’s information is protected.
 

There are two ways that this can be done:

1. Type mbmcencrypt into the subject line. This information would be in addition to the intended subject information.

2. Follow the steps below:
    A. Open a new email
    B. Choose your intended recipient
    C. Add your subject
    D. And add any attachments

Click on Options
This will give you a new toolbar.

Click on the Lock Icon and then encrypt

You will then see the message below. You can then send the message.
